Ranking - Our Juniors Lead the Way

2014/02/18

A week after the laying of the first stone for the future stadium Arena 92, Racing Metro has another reason to celebrate : the undeniable success of our Junior teams. With no fewer than three out of five teams currently ranked first in their pool, the weekend's matches confirmed the rude health of our youngsters, at the same time underlining the quality of coachng throughout the club.

Christophe Mombet, director of the Centre de Formation at Racing Metro 92 hit the nail on the head last week : "Player development is in our genes." And going by the recent results - three wins from three games this weekend - the development programme of the Ciel et Blanc is beginning to bear fruit.

Beating Biarritz 24-5 on Sunday, and now totalling nine wins from 13 games, our Espoirs (U23) are first in their pool, ahead of Narbonne and Bordeaux-Bègles.

The Crabos (U19), who beat Massy 18-11 in the curtain-raiser at Yves-du-Manoir on Saturday, are also in front in their pool, and after ten rounds have a handy eight-point lead over their closest rival, l'ASM.

As for the Alamercery (U17), who did not play this weekend, they remain at the top of the table in their pool, ahead of Massy and La Rochelle, while the Gaudermen (U16), also on a rest day, remain in second place, just behind Massy.

Lastly, having beaten neighbouring Massy 34-16, the Reichel (U21) are "only" third in their pool, trailing Bourgoin and l'ASM.
